Why Shop Now?

Last July to September David and I attended our markets and met with factories to select the dresses and accessories for The Gallery by Lynette 2011 season. We are so excited and have been receiving them during the past few weeks. Along with the beautiful gowns we have also been receiving notices from our dress manufacturers that even though prices were up 15-20% from last year, they didn't estimate sufficiently and are raising prices on reorders by another 12-15% after the first of the year.

Why is this happening? Well, the Chinese currency is gaining value against the U.S. dollar, Chinese families can only have one child and this generation is now old enough to work in the factory resulting in a diminished work force, As the world is more globally minded Asian workers have more opportunities and the list goes on.

What should I do? you might ask. If you are going to be needing a prom dress, a wedding dress or a dress for a special occasion we recommend that you shop right away. One of our main suppliers' prices are going up on January 1 but it will take a couple of weeks to finish re pricing. We do sell off the rack but when we order we have to charge the higher price and it is confusing to have one price on the tag but a different price when ordering.

When you shop at The Gallery by Lynette be assured that you will receive the very lowest price possible. Our economy is actually in a recovery but it may take awhile for the effects to be apparent. We will do everything we possibly can to make sure that you can afford to have a beautiful, well made gown.

Please visit us today. Also, please pass this information on to your friends. We will keep you updated on specials, new arrivals and pertinent info when you follow our blog.

Have a very Merry Christmas

Prom 2010 Pre Planning

In July David and I  attended a private showing of prom gowns made for our store.  We have added modest off the rack styles that will arrive sometime in December.  Next week we will travel to Dallas Texas to finish off our prom buy.  At The Gallery by Lynette we register all prom gowns over $300 and will not sell the same style and color to anyone else going to your dance.  You want to be the only girl at the dance in your dress, don't you?  Well, don't buy at the mall or anywhere you see multiple styles of one dress.  Come to The Gallery by Lynette for the best selection of unique prom dresses priced for every budget.

We are adding a prom store in our shopping center and are taking applications for prom reps and part time store employees.  Ask how you can get a free prom dress.  We also rent tuxes so tell your friends.

Summer 2010

It's summer and you are probably not thinking much about formals or school dances but we are.  A couple of weeks ago we attended a market and ordered some really exciting dresses.  This year we will offer more one of a kind and exclusive gowns including modest.  We will travel to Dallas, Texas in September to finish our prom buy so if you have any special requests please let us know.

Our price range will be from $99 to a little over $400.  We register anything over $300 to insure that you are the only one in your dress.   We have added Clarissa and Becca to our design/tailor shop.

Be sure to ask how you can apply to be our prom rep for your school.  You will get a free dress or tux for your participation.

Jordanne Thomas

This is a really funny story about how dedicated we are to making sure our customers are happy and get their dress on time.

I was shortening this dress for Jordanne.  It was originally floor length.  Several layers of skirts.  I stood at my work table and used the rotary cutter.  The dress is incredibly bulky and big and as I moved it around on my table I accidentally knocked the circular razor knife off of the table and onto my foot.  I had on dark socks and looked down relieved that the handle must have hit my foot.  A minute or two later I felt a squish in my sock and when I removed my sock I saw a small, very deep cut on the top of my foot just above my 3rd toe.  I had a decision to make.  Go to the emergency room for stitches and disappoint my customer or stay and finish the dress.  For nearly 10 minutes I applied pressure to the wound.  I hopped upstairs and put the dress on a mannequin on my work table and elevated my foot.  A few minutes later I was bleeding again.  I went in the bathroom and hung my foot over the bath tub while I dripped into the tub.  I called my husband for help.  After the usual explanation and chastisement for not being more careful David used his Boy Scout first aid training and applied pressure.  Once the bleeding was stopped I gave him a bottle of clear nail polish and he proceeded to apply several coats directly on the cut, gently blowing on each layer to help it dry.  With his assistance I hobbled into my office and elevated my foot.  It took a couple more hours to finish the dress but I made it.

The next day I explained to my customer and her mother and asked that they not look too closely at the cut edge of the net layers because I could not stand at the table and cut the hem evenly.  Luckily, I had already finished the most outer layer before the mishap.

Customers at The Gallery by Lynette should rest assured in the fact that we would rather bleed to death than miss a wear date.

Prom 2010 So Far

Wow!  What a great prom season we are having at The Gallery by Lynette.  During a time when businesses around us are sinking fast we are experiencing a record breaking prom year.  Nearly twice as many prom customers have found their perfect dress at our store than any other year.  Our alterations/design department has been working day and night to hem, add sleeves, and press every gown to perfection.  Yesterday we had ball gowns and diva dresses steamed for pick up on every available hanging place.  Every pick up ended with an exchange of hugs and thank yous.  What an honor it is for us that you, our customers place your ultimate trust in the most special times of your life.  We don't take that trust lightly.  Don't forget to send us pics and comments on your prom experience.

Prom 2010

Our store is literally busting at the seams full of some of the most beautiful prom gowns I have ever seen.  We have gowns from Crystal Couture,  Morilee Prom, Flirt Prom and Kiss Kiss.  We also understand the needs of the modest customer and can add sleeves to any dress in our store.  Ask about our prom registry where we will not sell the same gown/color to another girl attending your prom.
